hey guys!! come on in, this topic is for all who wanna practice eng.

hello everyone and ayshaa.I want to speak englısh too.I learnt it in high school and I'd spoken last in 1990.that's why I 've forgetten alot of words and knowledge.I want to remember and develop it now.please go on to writing.and please correct my false
 
Wotcha ladies. good to see that so many people want to either learn English or develop their knowledge. My advice for learners is to listen to english stuff as much as possible eg BBC, CNN or Baby TV. Keep in mind that the more listening you do, the better and natural english you learn :34:

I think many of the girls are on holiday or they are very busy preparing delicious meals:56:you know it is ramadan so they are inviting their friends or relatives for the evening meal:61:maybe some of them are fainted in the heat:37:blaa blaa blaa many reasonable excuses or reasons not to write here

Are there any grammar mistakes in these two sentences??

A book was given to Bill to read.

A well paid job was offered to him.

A book was given to Bill to read. = although it doesn't seem grammatically incorrect to me, sounds a bit wierd this way:37: this would be a better choice I guess = "Bill was given a book to read."

Yeah, of course "Bill was given a book to read" is much more better. But I just wondered whether this sentence "A book was given to Bill to read" correct
or not. Is it suitable to use the preposition "to" twice in such a sentence??:26:Thanks for your care and answer!

Now ı have to put the dishes into the dishwasher so ıt is time to go to the kitchen:37:

It seems that as the "book" is the object of the sentence, "to read" should be referring to that; which means it should be like this "A book was given to Bill to be read."

as you said "Bill will do the action of reading" and the sentence is in the passive form, "to read" also be used in passive form. If we go with "to read", it may lead a misunderstanding of book doing the job.

In order to refer Bill with "to read", we should change the sentence and use it in this form: "Bill was given a book to read."
