English topic!!Let's come here!!!!

He is very famous, right. We ,as English teachers, generally study with his books while we are

preparing for the exams.
You can trust him and go on studying with those books.

I see, thanks a lot. What about memorizing vocabularies? It is so difficult for me to memorize and learn advanced and sophisticated words for the exam.As I know, in KPDS I must have a good knowledge of vocabulary What can I do for it?[/QUOTE]

All the advanced linguists say that memorizing vocabulary is not the 'learning' of the language.

Because you memorize quickly and than forget it easily, you must learn vocabulary within the

texts, getting know the word from the context.

This will help you,I hope so.

Yeah, you are right but ıt takes a loooooong time to learn vocabulary within the text/ context. You can't learn many words in a short time with this method. On the other hand; for KPDS you have to learn lots of things and vocabulary in a short time that is, in a few months What a big dilemma for me ???? :26:

Hello everyone! I'm 17 years old.
I cant speak fluently this language, but I am trying.
I know that Im making grammar mistakes,I'm not perfect and I don't know the english grammar very well.
I hope one day I will learn to speak english fluently and livin' in USA. Thats my dream!

hi everyone,i really like this topic, i think it will be very useful for practising english so i decided to join .

I especially wanna improve my listening and speaking , What can I do? Can you give me some ideas? I have found a site, ıt is called ELLO. Is it possible to improve my listening skills through the listening texts in this website?????????????
I think the best way to learn a language is living in the country where this language is used but I dont have such a chance so I have to find other waysI am eager to learn but sometimes I lose my ambition and I say " Give up, you can't achieve, learning a language is a looooooong process, there are many things you have to learn

I believe that language learning brings real success through reading and listening.Because in this way, your

brain is beginning to be familiar with the words, phrases, and so the language. You don't have to memorize the

words one by one or you don't have to study all the grammar rules. It's automatically in your mind.

I have experienced this way with reading English literature classics, contemporary short stories, and listening to

music for more tahn 15 years.

I recommend you this technique,it really works...be sure,try it!

I recommend you stop learning a language with words, grammatical structures, think you are a baby, you have just started to learn how to speak, listen and try speaking, it can be right or wrong. If you don't have the chance to live in another country, you can speak with the tourists, you can find friends who is native and keep in touch (Skype will help you). How old are you? My students work @ sultanahmet to be able to drop a cross tourists but maybe you have already a good job. So, watch series.

Yeah, I also read O. Henry's short stories, they are great. I generally read the news in English on the net. I dont have many problems with reading but My problem is
with listening and speaking. I sometimes watch BBC or try to watch the series on CNBC but ıt is so hard to understand the native speakers. When I dont understand what they say, I get crazy and nervous so I found a site "ELLO" in this site there are lots of documentaries for listening, Listening texts are also given in written
forms(transcripts) in this site. When I dont understand the natives , I have a chance to look at the transcripts immediately , and I see what they mean. Instead of
watching BBC and series, I use the listening resources on the net because they have transcripts at least

I am primary school teacher, ı dont have a chance to speak with the tourists but maybe skype may help me. But I am not an outgoing, social person. a bit introvert person:26:I have to be more extrovert otherwise it is hard to use skype or other things

Native speakers on Tv -on news channels or series-speak rapidly so you may not understand what they mean,

The website you find looks pretty good, you can practice there...

And you may find a topic on your own and form sentences according to your comments on it and then write it

down and read loudly,it may also help you on speaking...
